For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

Living in the View of the Eternal God part 2
Living In the View of the
Eternal God
Part 2
Psa. 90:12: “So teach us to number our days, that we
may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
So if you
knew that you would die in a week how different would you live today? If there
would be a major shift (or any change with regards to people or God) then I
would encourage you to do it today, (you are not ready for heaven) even if you
were to live another fifty years! Make your years count, loose living and
aimlessness truly arise from prayerlessness. Today as I was in prayer the Lord
Jesus impressed upon me the importance of daily Bible reading and prayer.
Daniel was a man who possessed an excellent spirit and was this way because he
bent his knees three times a day and prayed in a time of oppression and apostasy!
See friend, Daniel was not praying this way when all was well, but the Temple
had been destroyed, the people of God were compromised and defiled among the
nations, and only a few held true to the God of Israel.
1 Timothy
4:13-16
13.Till I come, give attendance to reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.
14. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given
thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them;
that thy profiting may appear to all.
16. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in
them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Paul is encouraging
young Timothy to stay in prayer daily. Friend have you neglected your prayer
time? Is it the first priority of the day in your life, or is it just something
you will get to if you have time? I hate leftovers, I will eat them not to
waste, but I like fresh food. God wants us to bring our lives before him in the
freshness of the day and not wait until we are so tired we can barely make
sense of the words we utter to heaven before we climb in our warm beds. Heaven
should be our first priority, “So teach US to number our days….”
Paul is
not only encouraging Timothy to attend unto prayer, but to not neglect the gift
of God given by God through the blood atonement by justification and
sanctification, the gift of the Holy Ghost. One old time preacher when living would
encourage the saints to pray until the Holy Ghost prays through you and makes
intercession to the Father. It is possible to pray, but not pray through. We
need the Holy Ghost to pray, for he knows what to say when we do not:
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the
will of God. (Rom
8:26-27).
Jude in his letter warned the church against the last days apostasy
and said the best defense against it was prayer in the Holy Ghost and by yielding
to his power he would keep us in the Love of God (the defense against deception
2 Thess 2:10) and looking for the coming of the Lord Jesus:
But ye,
beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy
Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 20-21).
Now the Holy
Ghost Baptism is essential, and it must be maintained by the individual. Some
who read this may become frightened by the thought of Speaking in tongues, but
friend that fear is not from God, it is biblical and essential for every believer
to keep himself unspotted from the world. If you have not received the Holy
Ghost since you believed with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues you
need too (Act 19:1-6)! Consider the virgins who took their lamps but did not
get the oil, their lamps went out, and thus walked in darkness and fell asleep
in the night! These are believers who need the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, and
the lights are going out all over friend and creepy things come out when the
lights are out! It was coded messages from the Navajo language that US Forces
used to overcome the Germans, Japanese, and Italians in World War II, and
unknown language to them, but through these code talkers US Forces were able to
move their men and reinforce our troops to overcome fascism.
To those believers
though who have received I would remind you not to neglect the gift of God as
Paul said, we must pray with power and stay full of God’s light in this dark
world! If you have been failing to pray, stop right now and ask God to help you
to empty whatever is getting in the way! Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor
in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven… and to the poor, contrite heart,
that trembles at his word will be the man that he looks to (Matt 5:6, Isa 66:2).”
The Psalmist said
it right, “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of
the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste
and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth
in him” (Psa 34:6-8).
I have
posted an earlier message By Dwain Gallaher on “Winning over Worry.” May God by
His Word Strengthen you by His Spirit. That you might meditate upon these
things, and give yourself wholly to them!
So as we close again, we Pray Lord teach us to number our days, that our hearts might be applied unto wisdom. In Jesus Name, Amen!
So as we close again, we Pray Lord teach us to number our days, that our hearts might be applied unto wisdom. In Jesus Name, Amen!
If you have never accepted or if you have fallen away from Jesus Christ here are three steps you need to take to be saved:
You must admit you are a sinner, confess your sin to Jesus, repent (turn from all you know is wrong), ask Jesus to come in your heart, and begin to follow Jesus by reading and obeying his word and go to a Bible believing church that teaches his word. And tell someone what Christ Jesus Has Done For You (Rev 12:10)
May God through Christ bless you!

Living In The View of the Eternal God.
Living In the View of the Eternal
God
Psa. 90:12: “So teach us to number our days, that we
may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Truly what
matters in the end is what God sees and knows. It does not matter what men
think if what God knows is different than what men think. Here in this verse,
Moses tells us that we should live in the light of the eternal God. By living "Today," and if this day was your last upon the earth, would you live, or
act differently, or have any bitterness in your heart toward anyone, if the
death angel came by your home today? Our lives are fragile and at any moment we
can be called out of this temporary world into eternity. In the light of this
truth let us consider our devotedness to the cause of Christ.
How devout
are you to knowing God, and doing his will? To know God comes in two main ways
first by his word, and prayer according to God’s will in Christ. Of course these
are basics, but all too often we forget the most essential elements of our
fellowship with Christ. This morning in prayer I felt impressed to share the
importance of Bible Reading. Paul wrote to Timothy:
1 Timothy
4:13-16
13.Till I come, give attendance to reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.
14. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them;
that thy profiting may appear to all.
16. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in
them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Paul tells
his young disciple to make sure to read the Word of God. Now in that day to
have all of the scrolls of both the Old and New Testaments would have been
impossible. It was too expensive and the only places a student of God could
find the Old Testament in whole would have been at the Temple of Jerusalem and
a library such at Alexandria Egypt, which would have been donated by a king. The
New Testament of course was just going into print during this time so most only
had a few letters available at the church kept in a safe place. No one in Bible
times had a Bible they could carry whenever they wanted and sit down and read
just anywhere.
It has
been estimated by scholars today for someone to own the entire volume of the
Bible written on animal skins called vellum before the invention of the
printing press in 1440 AD by Gutenberg can be as high as 425 sheep. If you were
to go to the auction and buy a ewe would run you roughly $200.00-250.00 US
dollars today. So to use vellum like in Bible days that would approximately cost
just for the sheep around $85,000.00 to $106,250.00 just to buy the sheep to
slaughter for one book. Of course this does not include the butchering, and the
work to prepare the sheep skin for writing. Moreover, if you wanted a whole
Bible you would have to hire a scribe and it took around ten months to complete
the work on average. Quite an expensive
endeavor and lengthy. One of the reasons
God had the Bible compiled by the church and the books were canonized
(authorized and verified as holy) was so that God’s children could be sound in
the faith regarding the doctrine and live according to his Word. Many heresies
crept into the churches during the early days because many of the believers did
not have access to the whole counsel of God and secondly did not stay close to
God in prayer.
I am so
glad and thankful that today believers have access to the Bible so cheaply and
can read every day. Isn’t God good! Sadly many who claim to be Christ’s do not give
attendance to reading daily or regularly even though they do not have to go to
the Temple or spend such an high sum to own the scriptures. If a person has a
sixth-grade education they can read three chapters in about 15 minutes on
average. If each believer were obedient to
Paul’s direction they could read the Whole Bible in less than a year. Unfortunately,
many believers and some so-called ministers have not ever even read the Bible through
once, cover to cover. As a result due to distractions, excuses, lack of
discipline, and in some cases just poor examples many who claim the Wonderful
name of Christ as their savior are walking in ways that are unpleasing and
teaching and listening to voices they would never entertain, if they would just
give attendance to God’s word 15 minutes daily. Isaiah said regarding God’s
people, “that they were destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Isa. 5:13). Jesus
said to the Sadducees (the priesthood from Zadok), that they believed errors
and heresies because “they did not know the scriptures” (Matt 22:29).
If we have been born again, we are
priests and kings unto God because of Jesus Christ. God help us as believers
that we know his word by faithfully reading it. If these thoughts bring
conviction to your soul, repent. I would encourage you to read your Bible daily
with the intent to start at one cover and reach the other. May the Lord Bless you in the journey of his
Word. So as we close in prayer “Lord teach US to number our days and apply our
hearts unto wisdom.” Amen
