Searching
the Scriptures for the Truth
Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
1Co 2:9 But it
is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the
heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1Co 2:10 But God
hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11 For what
man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even
so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 Now we
have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which
things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which
the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the
natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are
spiritually discerned.
2Ti 2:15 Study to
shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.
This means to cut the
sacrifice properly or rightly divide that the worshipper may receive acceptance
from God.
The more a believer reads and studies the Word of God, the more
precious it becomes to the one who dig’s deep into the treasures that are found
within the mine of God. Job wrote “Surely there is a vein for the silver and a
place for gold where they fine (refine) it. [2] Iron is taken out of the earth,
and brass is molten out of the stone” (Job 28:1-2).
As it is in the natural realm, so it is in the spiritual realm.
Silver and gold, iron, and brass are not to be found on the surface of the earth
but these things are formed under pressure and then dug from beneath the
earth’s surface. Then they go through a refining process before their beauty
and usefulness can be seen. So it is with the truths
of the Word of God. Many truths of the Scriptures are not to be found by a mere
surface reading of the Word of God, but have to be dug out and brought to the
surface in order that their beauty and usefulness may be discovered. As a result of a lack of study many useful
tools to understand the bible have been robbed as a whole of many
historical, prophetical, typical, and practical truths.
Many people are ignorant of the Old Testament
because it is hard to understand, Moses put a veil upon his face which
represents the veil (flesh) upon our hearts, which makes the Old Testament
difficult to understand. (2 Cor 3:13-16) The Old Testament is a shadow of
things to come and so the New Testament is what must be used to decipher the
Old Testament for the New is the Real image or substance.
Too the New Testament is simply the fulfillment of the Old Testament; each
testament is incomplete without the other. The Old made way for the New. The
New completes the Old. Thus we can say “The Old Testament is
the New Testament Concealed, and the New Testament is
the Old Testament revealed.”
When studying any topic in the bible this
truth should always be at the forefront of our hearts and minds. May
God through his Son give you light from his WORD!
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ here are three steps you need to take to be saved:
You must admit you are a sinner, confess your sin to Jesus, repent (turn from all you know is wrong), ask Jesus to come in your heart, and begin to follow Jesus by reading and obeying his word and go to a bible believing church that teaches his word. May God through Christ bless you!
