Exodus 15
The Song of Moses
Ex 15:1-18
Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. The LORD is a man of war (Jehovah Sabbaoth: the LORD is his name. Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters. Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.

The first song recorded in scripture, written by Moses. Interestingly this is a product of a dark trial of Egypt and his armies attempting to bring the Hebrews back into bondage. God waited almost to the last moment to catch Pharaoh and his armies, and God's Spirit was a shield unto Israel and a light, but was darkness to the Egyptians. God made a way, where there was no way, and not an unclean way, but a way that even the ground of the seabed was dry, not a bit of mud on their shoes! Freshly mopped you might say! And they sang the Song of Moses:
Consider Revelation:
Revelation 15:2-5
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. "And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. "And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:"
These saints stood on the glassy sea, they had been washed by the Word in earth, but in heaven stood upon those promises playing harps and worshipping. It must be noticed that fire was in the sea (consider Song of Solomon 8:6-7 supernatural fire- passion).
God teach us how to worship through hard things that the temple of his tabernacle of his testimony in heaven is opened!
Ex 15:19-21
Miriam's Song: The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
Bitter Water Made Sweet
The word wilderness of "Shur" means "a wall," God brought them to a wall or barrier, will they learn to climb or be stopped by something that seemed impossible, (searing heat, extreme thirst, weary animals, little crying children.... Life is always brought forth through struggles, travail, Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psa. 30:5).
Bitter Water:
Ex 15:22-26
So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Traditional Place in Egypt- Marah |
After traveling three days in that hot desert, parched and
hot, Israel forgot what Amazing Grace and miracles God had done for them in
Egypt and the Red Sea. Oh Our Father God, help your people to remember to Count our blessings!
When they came to Marah (meaning bitter, a root of Mary or
Miriam) the water was bitter, and they were unable to drink causing a great
murmuring and cry in the camp of Israel. Moses fell upon his knees and asked
God for wisdom and discernment (James 1:5). God showed him “A TREE,” could this
represent the Cross, the tree Jesus suffered upon and died for the bitterness
of our sins? Moses put the tree into the bitter waters, and it was made sweet
and refreshing. The Cross can make our bitterness (speech, life, struggles)
sweet and refreshing, as we follow Christ and experience bitter things. If we
fall upon our knees and ask for wisdom and discernment that God will show us Christ
sufferings on the road to the Promised Land.
God reveals to Israel one of his precious names, Jehovah Rapha
(The LORD our Healer). God desires to heal us (make us well- Whole) if we will listen and do his will
by faith (Isa. 53:4-5). God wants to lift us to BETTER things, not leave us in bitterness. God make us Better, not bitter!
Elim can be translated “a
place of strength.” God brought his people Israel to a place of much water
and shade with twelve wells and seventy
palm trees. The symbolism is easy to detect (12 is the number of government 12
tribes of Israel and 12 apostles). The seventy palm trees represent other
righteous people (Psa. 90) and could represent the 70 elders chosen to assist Moses
in governing Israel and help with the work. There were also 70 members of the Sanhedrin
council in Jesus’ day. It cannot be
forgotten that after the twelve were chosen, he selected another 70 to go
preach the good news.

If we can through our sorrows and possibly our tears learn
the songs in the night and fill up the wells of BACA (weeping), we will find
ourselves going from strength to strength in Christ!
Consider part of this Psalm:
Psalms 84:5-7
5. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose
heart are the ways of them.
6. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain
also filleth the pools.
7. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth
before God.
Selah (stop and think)!
You must admit you are a sinner, confess your sin to Jesus, repent (turn from all you know is wrong), ask Jesus to come in your heart, and begin to follow Jesus by reading and obeying his word and go to a bible believing church that teaches his word. And tell someone what Christ Jesus Has Done For You (Rev 12:10)
