r. Explanation of the Passover Service – Ex 12:25-28
The Lord commanded Israel to keep the service forever. When the children would ask in the time to come in the land of Canaan “What means ye by this service?” They were to explain its origin and purpose.
So it is the responsibility of the Christian to explain the New Testament fulfillment of the Old Testament Passover, both as the work of Christ on the cross, as well as the Lord’s Supper when commemorated (1Cor. 5:6-8; 11:23-34; Matt 26:26-28).
s. Redemption Makes Difference and Division- Ex 11:7; 8:23
The Lord said he would make a “difference” between the Israelites and the Egyptians. This difference can also be called a division. So it is redemption that makes a difference between believer and unbeliever (Rom 3:22; 10:12).
t. Spoiling the Egyptians at Exodus – Ex 12:31-36, 40-42
When the Exodus took place Moses told the Israelites to borrow from the Egyptians jewels of gold and silver, raiment, and anything else they required, and they spoiled the Egyptians. This fulfilled the prophecy spoken to Abraham 400 years earlier (Gen. 15:13-21). It would be these spoils that God would use to build a tabernacle (Ex 25:1-9).
So it is that Christ also spoiled principalities and powers at the cross and at his Exodus the church partakes of the spoils won through his death (Col 2:10; Isa 53:12; Jud 5:12; Ps 68:18; Eph: 8-10).
u. Must Be Circumcised to eat the Passover – Ex 12:43-51
The Lord laid down certain prerequisites for all who ate the Passover lamb.
1. A stranger was not to eat of it. (Sinner)
2. A hired servant was not to eat of it. (Hireling)
3. An uncircumcised person was not to eat of it. (not in covenant-living unholy)
Whether they were Jew or a foreigner, all must experience the rite of circumcision to partake of the Passover. Circumcision was the sign and seal of the Abrahamic Covenant (Act 7:8; Gen 17). If a person was not circumcised, he was not under covenant relationship with the Lord, and therefore not entitled to the promises, privileges and blessings of the Abrahamic covenant.
The New Testament shows that a person who is saved has relationship with Christ are qualified to partake of the Lord’s Supper. The true circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the flesh {(sanctification) Rom 2:24-29}.
If you have never accepted or if you have fallen away from Jesus Christ here are three steps you need to take to be saved:
You must admit you are a sinner, confess your sin to Jesus, repent (turn from all you know is wrong), ask Jesus to come in your heart, and begin to follow Jesus by reading and obeying his word and go to a bible believing church that teaches his word. And tell someone what Christ Jesus Has Done For You (Rev 12:10)
May God through Christ bless you!
